My corner of the oval

… thoughts from a Kiwi cricket fan

If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

I haven’t blogged in AGES … so I just picked this random question off a website with questions and ideas for possible blog posts, in the hope that it would inspire me to update this blog 😉

I actually thought about the answer to this question today, believe it or not!

One of the guys in my team at work is heading off to his homeland at the end of the week for a bit of a holiday, his homeland being Ireland, and I jokingly asked him today, “So, do you need anyone to carry your bags for you to Dublin?!”

It was only in jest, obviously, but I really, really would love to drop everything and travel to Ireland and Scotland tomorrow, if I somehow managed to win the lottery and could afford all the ticket prices, etc!

I think it must be because my family ancestry is Celtic and I just have a yearning desire to see more of the countries where my grandparents (and beyond!) were born!  I had the opportunity six years ago (yikes, was it that long already?!) to spend a weekend in Dublin and it was one of the best times I’ve ever had!!!

A sunny afternoon in St Stephen's Green in Dublin!

A sunny afternoon in St Stephen’s Green in Dublin!

But unfortunately, all that weekend did was whet my appetite for wanting to go back and see even MORE of that country, as well as the land of my forefathers, Scotland!

I have even found myself entering competitions in the express wish that I would somehow win enough money for me to take such a dream trip!  Is that crazy, or what?!

I don’t know how or when I’m ever going to be able to fulfill my dream of seeing these countries … probably when I’m 80 years old and I’ll have to take the pensioners’ tour! … but I am somehow going to scrimp and save enough over the years to one day achieve this lofty goal!

How about you?  Where would you go, and why, if you could just drop everything and take an all-expenses paid trip?
