My corner of the oval

… thoughts from a Kiwi cricket fan

Back to the important stuff …

on May 23, 2014

Our New Zealand Black Caps leave this weekend for their test/T20 tour of the West Indies, and I don’t know about you, but I’m excited!

Excited because the last time this test squad was together they claimed test series victories against the very same West Indies, and the much-flaunted Indian teams!

Victory over the West Indies

Victory over the West Indies

Yes, I know these test series victories came in home conditions, and the conditions they will face in the West Indies will be fairly different to what the likes of the Basin Reserve in Wellington will provide them … but in this game, when you have been fighting so long and fiercely and to the best of your abilities every time you take to the field, victories like these should be celebrated and built upon, to be able to take on the next challenge – and overcome it!

And just to remind you of the playing schedule for our team:

29 MAY West Indies Selection v New Zealand

2 JUNE West Indies Selection v New Zealand

8 JUNE West Indies v New Zealand, test match, Sabina Park in Kingston

16 JUNE West Indies v New Zealand, test match, Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad

26 JUNE West Indies v New Zealand, test match, National Stadium in Providence, Guyana

5 JULY West Indies v New Zealand, T20, Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica

6 JULY West Indies v New Zealand, T20, Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica

Good luck and best of success to Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson (@CoreyAnderson78), Trent Boult, Mark Craig, Peter Fulton, Tom Latham (@TomLatham2), James Neesham (@JimmyNeesh), Luke Ronchi (@Ronchi04), Hamish Rutherford (@HDRutherford17), Ish Sodhi (@Ish_Sodhi), Tim Southee, Ross Taylor (@RossLTaylor), Neil Wagner (@NeilWagner13), BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.

Bring us back some more silverware!

Victory over India!
